Around 1982 or 1983, Main wondered if he could draw illustrations using the PC-8001 that had been introduced at the company he was working for at the time, and he tried it out with the help of a programmer.

At the time, drawing illustrations on a computer was difficult, and no one was doing it.

In the program (Basic, I think),

 input.BackgroundColor = "White"
 input.PenColor = "Black"
 input.PenWidth = 2
 input.DrawEllipse(100,100,100,100)
I typed in some characters (my memory is hazy and it may not be accurate), and then I was able to display a shape and somehow make an illustration. That's why it's made up of a circle, a mouth, and a triangle.

I was amazed at how easy it was to draw with the mouse on the Macintosh, which came out later.

And I felt that the computer age was upon us.
